The top 3 online communities for songwriters

The Top 3 online communities for songwriters are…

#1. Just Plain Folks

http://www.jpfolks.com

Founded and led by Brian Austin Whitney, this is the most active online community for songwriters.

Some members have had very serious success as songwriters and everybody seems to love discussing the craft and various other things.

It’s very active but the downside is that many members seem to concentrate on Nashville and if you don’t write country songs, you might feel a bit left out. Unfortunately, this is the case in most online communities for songwriters, as country songwriters tend to be dominate everywhere.

#2.  MusesMuse

http://www.musesmuse.com

Run by Jodi Krangle, Musesmuse has got a wealth of information, in the form of articles and regular columns. The forum isn’t as active as Just Plain Folks but there are some people on there, the community is quite varied and new articles are constantly added.

This is a regular stop-by for me, even though i find the level of activity on the forums a bit disappointing sometimes.

#3. Sound on Sound

http://www.soundonsound.com

Sound On Sound is a british magazine for sound engineers and producers.

The website has got a lot of old articles as well as a very thriving online forum. While the focus isn’t on songwriting (but on music recording), there are a lot of songwriters & composers on there, and this is a good environnement to develop yourself as a musician or songwriter.
