If you are inclined to make new year resolutions, no doubt that you are now formulating some for 2008, as well as looking back on 2007.
Have you achieved all your 2007 resolutions?
Most people will answer “no” to this question. Don’t be harsh on yourself; it’s now time to congratulate yourself for what you have down and forget about what you haven’t done.
Focus on what you have achieved. Relive it in your head. Remember how it felt. Remind your family and friends about your achievements. How does it feel? Pretty good, eh?
What if you feel you have achieved nothing? Well, think again.
OK, maybe you haven’t managed to increase the size of your live audience but remember that guy who came to talk to you at the end of your gig and told you he really liked your energy on stage? That’s an achievement.
Remember how you used to struggle to play the guitar solo on your song “Song A”? Now, you can play it with your eyes closed. Even if no one has actually heard you playing it, it doesn’t matter. The fact that you can now enjoy playing it without worrying about it is an achievement.
Right, you want to release your album and it’s still not finished. You lost a lot of time looking for a drummer. Then he left. Then you got another one. In the end, you decided to pay a pro session drummer to do the tracks. He delivered some kick ass drum tracks. As the producer for the record, that’s an achievement as you now have drum tracks much better than you ever hoped they would be.
You get my drift? Congratulate yourself
